Join us in celebrating our recent courthouse wedding with a party/reception in Brooklyn

COME PARTY W/ US!

Saturday June 13, 2026

We had a very fun, very efficient, and very New York courthouse wedding in December 2025. Join us for a reception/party/celebration of our family and our new federal tax benefits!

What is this thing? What should we expect?

This is a delayed wedding reception! There will be some form of a ceremony (short, we promise; we’re already legally hitched, but some aspects of this are important to us), followed by dinner, dancing, and general merriment. The venue is a historic picnic house in a huge public park. The picnic house itself is fully indoors and air-conditioned, but you can also spread/step out into the park area around the picnic house if you’d like. If the weather is nice, the park will be absolutely jumpin’ on a Saturday in June- so you’ll be around thousands of our closest Brooklyn neighbors.

What should we wear?

NYC can be oppressively hot in the summer, but this is an indoor, air-conditioned venue. There is no real dress code, but we hope you wear something that gets you ready to party. For those that thrive on instructions, we recommend “dressy casual.” But we really don’t care.
IDK what our family is wearing yet, but C will probably wear a tie and A probably won't wear a white dress.

Should we bring the kids?

Choose your own adventure! Your kids are welcome to come, or you can leave them at home. We totally understand the challenges with both bringing and not bringing kids to weddings (Nigra & Wilson 2022; Nigra & Wilson 2025). Do whatever is best for your family. Béla & Tommy will attend the beginning of the event, but we will arrange for a babysitter to take them home after dinner (probably around 7:00? IDK yet). Just let us know who is coming on the RSVP so we can feed/seat everybody.
If you’re coming from out of town and are interested in a baby sitter, we're happy to help you out on this front. The teachers from our daycare/pre-school often baby sit. Give us a call/text and we'll help.

Travel

For those coming from Pittsburgh/Cleveland- you have three main options:
  1. Drive. Driving in to NYC is a special experience but you’ll survive as long as you keep an eye out for the Jersey Slide (suddenly changing across >2 lanes of traffic with no turn signal). Street parking in Brooklyn can be difficult, so expect that you might need to use a garage. Expect 7hrs depending on traffic and stops.
  2. Amtrak to New York Moynihan Train Hall At Penn Station, which is served directly by public transit. The Pennsylvanian takes 9hrs 20mins from Pitt—>NYC.
  3. Fly. LGA and JFK are closest and are served directly by public transit. EWR is also a reasonable option and connects to Amtrak/train service.
You shouldn’t need a car to get around once you are in NYC. Feel free to call/text us and we’ll happily give you advice or talk through any questions you might have.
*Note: The park is off limits to cars, and you need a special pass to park at the venue (which is inside the park). We have a limited number of these for anyone with mobility or other needs, please let us know! Otherwise, please plan to walk a short distance from the edge of the park to the venue.

Hotel/lodging

We've reserved a block of rooms at The Livingston Hotel in Downtown Brooklyn. You can use this link to book your reservation for the block rate ($310/night). Please note this rate is good until 4/28/2026.

291 Livingston St,
Brooklyn, NY 11217

Airbnb/VRBO/short-term rentals: Because NYC heavily regulates short-term rentals, few are available on these platforms. You may have some luck, though! Consider looking in NJ, across the river. You could also consider hotels in south Brooklyn or Jersey which may have more affordable rates.

Please note there is no registry. Many of you are traveling across the globe to celebrate with us in Brooklyn. We know NYC is not a cheap place to visit, and we thank you so much for considering it. Your presence means the world to us and is all we ask for.

We look forward to seeing you and celebrating!
